Day 48 and 49
These two days could have been blended into one as they were pretty much the same.
We sat in the warm cottage and watched the rain come and go. Other than I'm tired of seeing rain I didn't sit and twiddle my fingers, I always have things occupy me. I never have a dull moment. I read a book, and made play food with polymer clay for the grandchildren.
The rain did stop long enough to get outside for some exercise, which was raking leaves and pine needles off the driveway and the stone steps. I will be raking more, many of the leaves haven't even turned colour. They might get raked this year, or next spring. There is always something falling off the trees at the cottage. When we took over the cottage no one had been keeping the stone paths cleaned and they were 3/4 covered with tree debrea. It doesn't take long for nature to take over.
We are home and the truck in loaded with my pottery for the market tomorrow.
I am thankful I have my health and I can do the things I enjoy doing, yes that includes raking leaves. The smell of the leaves and the russel sound they make gives me peace and time to talk and listen to God, while I rake.
I am a Christian by accepting Jesus as my Lord and savior. God has gifted my in the arts, particularly pottery. I enjoy turning on the wheel to make functional pottery but I also enjoy sculpting and creating whimsical figures, like my bears.

Hopefully A Good Market
Day 28
I have been looking forward to going to the market on this Saturday for most of the summer. It was suppose to be a very busy day, because there was a popular car show downtown, on the street adjacent to our market. It could have been very busy, but it rained and was cold for most of the day. Despite the weather, when the rain did stop people came out. I sold two items and took one order, more than last weekend, which was non.
I am thankful that I did have sales. I am also thankful, that after a few years, I decided to bite the bullet and get involved in a weekly market. Seeing the vendors every week builds relationships too. Going to the same place every week for 12 or so weeks is comforting.
We were also invited to a pot luck gathering this afternoon . Due to the weather the gathering was postponed until tomorrow. I am very thankful for this. After a day of standing in the cold and rain it is good to stay at home on the couch, where it is warm.

Bluejay Platter
Day 21
I find it hard to believe that I have been writing about my thankfulness for 3 weeks, although I have missed a few days. Normally life gets in the way and I forget that to continue. They say it takes 20 days to make or break a habit. So far this good habit has been going quite well.
Yesterday we had a hot humid day, ending with severe thunderstorm and lots of rain. I lay in bed in the early this morning hoping and praying the rain would end before I had to set up for the market. It did. I am very glad it stopped raining before the 100 K Huntsville Market started. A few sprinkles came down during set up, not much. This year despite the wet summer God has blessed us with good weather on Saturdays. Thank you Lord.
The main customers, our cottagers, have headed back to Toronto, USA and elsewhere. For the first Saturday this summer I did not have any sales. I am thankful that I have I sold a few pieces of pottery every Saturday I have been there, except today. I have also made money this year at the market. Not only that, I have also made contacts and people are getting to know who I am. My pottery, after 5 years of living here, is getting recognized. Repeat customers are happening.
I can only be thankful God has gifted me and also revealed this gift to me. Years ago I thought I had no talent. Today someone thought my bluejay platter was a photograph glued to my platter with varnish over it. I hand painted 3 coats of China paint, each coat being fired in the kiln. Most of my platters are in the kiln 5 times. You can see this platter on my Etsy site. https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/117174579/blue-jay-serving-tray-pottery?ref=shop_home_active_1 Here is another one of my China paintings. A pumpkin tray for thanksgiving harvest.
One great thing about doing a weekly market is developing friendships with the other vendors. This is the markets second year and my first year. I was asked to go in it last year but I wasn't prepared. I am glad I waited a year.
I am thankful that when I am tired we can go out to dinner. Thankful for restaurants, waitresses and money to pay for it. Several years ago money was tight.

For the Sun and Warmth
Day 4
We have had a rainy summer. Most of the rain has fallen during the week. Last week it seemed like the rain would not end.
I like to hang my laundry on the clothes line. You can't beat natures fresh air no matter what the commercials selling chemical freshness tell you. Last week the rain kept falling and the laundry kept growing. It spilled out of the basket on to the floor burying the laundry room/ mud room floor along with our shoes. The dresser drawers were getting lower, so low I was forced to wash one load and dry it in the dryer.
Today there was not a cloud in the sky all day, a rarity this summer. I am thankful I got my laundry washed and dried on the line.
Normally our grass is burnt brown by now. Not this year. As the rain pours down the grass grows up. When the sun comes out and dries up the lawn there is no time to fiddle around. The lawnmower must come out before the grass becomes a hayfield. Today the sun came and the grass is cut, neat and tidy for another week.
I even got some time to ride my Yamaha TY trials bike around the lawn, between some tree stumps. We are going to a vintage motorcycle rally this weekend where I can putt around on my motorcycle. Putting around is all I do because that is all I like to do on trials motorcycle.
I am thankful that I was even able to get a few weeds out of my front flower bed. The rain has been breading mosquitoes, which ate me every time I worked in the garden. Hiding in the house was a better option. As the theme of this blog continues the rain came down and the weeds grew up.
Today I am thankful for the warmth and sun allowing my to putter outside and get some work done.
I am also thankful for the peace a day like today brings.
